Tweaks & Music Picks
by Brian Boehler
I Robot was the second studio album released by the Alan Parsons Project on 1 June 1977. When I moved to Colorado and started working at US Stereo and Sewing (yes they actually had sewing machines in the very beginning) I often used this album to demonstrated loudspeakers. I found it to be a timeless album that I grew to love and listen to time and time again.
The album draws conceptually on author Isaac Asimov's science fiction Robot trilogy, exploring philosophical themes regarding artificial intelligence. Also note that the album was recorded at Abbey Road studios and that Alan Parsons was the Producer. In other words the album is recorded very well for the late 1970's.
While some might say that the style is progressive rock or art rock, I believe the album still holds up very well today. I hope you take a listen and learn to enjoy the music as much as I have over these many years.
